VASCO: Vasco police on Wednesday arrested a youth from Vaddem, Vasco for posting comments against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, thereby hurting the sentiments of Hindu community people.
The youth Ronaldo D’Souza from Vaddem, Vasco had posted “Break all Shivaji statues if Shiv Bhakt loves Shiv, they will built in their homes”, on social media group.
As the post has sentiments of Hindu community people, Hindu outfit group marched to the Police station and demanded immediate arrest of the youth.
When contacted Vasco PI Kapil Nayak said that the Vasco police will not tolerate any comments made on religion that can cause communal disharmony
” There were law and order situation in Calangute over Shivaji statue and news appeared on media . The youth Ronaldo D’Souza took to social media to mark some comment against Shivaji Maharaj which hurt the Shivpremis . The people then gathered at the Vasco police station and filed a complain and Vasco police later got the youth to the police station where he apologized to the people. He was also arrested under section 151 of criminal procedure code (CrPC) to prevent breach of peace. He is in custody and will be placed before the Mormugao Dy Collector. ” Said Nayak
” I want to advise people that they must refrain from making comments on any religion. In Goa we all.live in harmony and every person has his own respect for his religion and such comments can hurt their sentiments. In Goa we live together and visit each other’s homes during festivals and it is my strict advice that people should not make comments on any religion in person or in social media . Vasco police will take stringent action and we will deal in such cases with an iron hand. Vasco police will not tolerate such incidents that can disrupt communal harmony in Vasco ” said Nayak
Further investigation is under progress under the supervision of Vasco PI Kapil Nayak
