PANAJI: Senior Congress Leader and Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat today said that his party objects to the current delimitation process going for the Panchayat elections.
Kamat also demanded that the State Election Commission (SEC) should extend the date for filing of objections.
“Congress objects to the current delimitation process that has been going on for the Panchayat elections. It is evident that all panchayats have objected to the delimitation. It is brought to my notice that they are trying to change the ward number,” said Kamat
He further said that the they will be meeting the State Election Commissionand submit a memorandum to extend the date for filing of objections.
“The last day is March 4th but that is not going to happen with results round the corner, we want the date to be extended,” he added
Goa State Election Commission (SEC) today informed that elections to 186 village panchayat will be held in June 2020.
The Goa State Election Commission (SEC) has extended the date till March 4 to received objections and suggestion to the draft delimitation proposal of village panchayat wards for the panchayat elections slated to be held later this year.
Earlier, the last date for submitting objections and suggestion was March 2.
