MARGAO: Law Minister Aleixo Sequeira urged notaries to exercise caution when authenticating papers, citing the increasing number of land-grabbing instances in Goa.
“Land grabbing would not be feasible without notaries’ help. I’m merely making a generalization here, not pointing fingers at anyone. To stop these acts, we need advocates’ and notaries’ help,” he stated.
Additionally, the minister urged the legal community to refrain from submitting deeds online for registration on a regular basis, claiming that this was delaying appointments at Sub-Registrar offices. “As these offices fall under the Law Ministry, I urge your cooperation in addressing any misconduct and ensuring smoother functioning of the system,” he added.
