PANAJI: Congratulating the recipients of the National Cooperative Development Cooperation (NCDC) awards for Co-operative Excellence and Merit which were given to Primary Cooperative Societies in recognition of the contributions and services rendered by the Co-operative Societies in the Co-operative sector during the year 2022-23, Minister for Co-operation, Subhash Shirodkar said that these awards are an encouragement to those working in the cooperative sector to aspire to do more to achieve self reliance.
“These awards are an acknowledgement of the hardwork, dedication and commitment of these Cooperatives,” the Minister said while speaking at a function held at the Goa State Cooperative Bank, Sahakar Sankul in Panaji, today.
Shirodkar further said that each one in this sector should focus on making Goa self-reliant. He added that cooperatives especially those in the farming sector should make make optimum use of the schemes made available to them through the cooperative movement.
Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Arvind Bugde, urged cooperatives to adopt model bye laws and benefit from cooperative initiatives and schemes like computerisation etc.
Chairperson of Goa Bagayatdar Bazar and Commissioner for NRI Affairs, Adv Narendra Sawaikar commended the award organisers saying recognising efforts of those in co-operative sector will give a big boost to those working in this field.
Earlier, chairperson of Goa State Cooperative Bank Ltd, Ulhas Phaldessai, welcomed the gathering.
Present on the occasion were Chairperson of Goa State Marketing and Supply Federation, Sakha Malik, Regional Director for Maharastra, Goa and Daman Diu, Ministry of Cooperation, Col.Vinit Narayan NCDC among others.
Merces V.K.S.S. Society Ltd., Merces- Goa bagged the First Prize for Excellence while Surla Kothambi V.K.S.S. Society Ltd., Surla, Bicholim won the Second Prize- Merit under Best Primary Credit Coops.
Under Credit Societies, the first prize for Excellence was bagged by South Goa District Madgaon School Complex Cooperative Credit Society, Margao-Goa while the Second Prize merit was given to the Shiroda Progressive Urban Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. Bhatim, Shiroda, Ponda-Goa.
Under Marketing Societies, the First Prize for Excellence was bagged by Goa Bagayatdar Sahakari Kharedi Vikri Saunstha Maryadit, Ponda-Goa. Second Prize was bestowed on The Bardez Bazar Consumer Cooperative Society Ltd. Morod, Mapusa under Best Primary Cooperatives in two prominent sectors of the State.
Brahmadev Mahila Sahakari Dudh Vyavasayik Sansth Maryadi, Brahmakarmali, Sattari Goa and Dhenu Mahila Sahakari Dudh Utpadak Sanstha Maryadit, Barazan, Usgao, Goa won the first and second prize respectively under Best Women Cooperatives.
