CANACONA: The Young Maratha of Delem, Canacona won the Canacona Taluka Level Tennis Ball Cricket tournament organized by Mega Boys, Maiek, Loliem on Sunday.
Playing at Kumegal Ground Young Maratha defeated Krishna Boys Kumbegal, Painginim by just 4 runs.
After winning the toss Young Maratha chose to bat first and scored 36 runs in the allotted 4 overs by losing 6 wickets. Akhil Niraj and Bablu hit one-six each. For Krishna boys Lewis and Sidhu took two wickets each while Gaurav and Grathik took one wicket each.
In reply, the Krishna boys managed to score only 32 runs by losing 9 wickets and lost the match by 4 runs. Deepak Lewis and Grathik scored one six each. For the Young Maratha Rajat took 3 wickets while Bunty and Uday took two wickets each.
Along with the winner’s Trophy, Young Maratha took the winning purse of Rs. 15000/- while Krishna Boys of Kumbegal-Poinguinim had to be content with a Runners-up purse of Rs. 10000/- and a Trophy. The awards were handed over in the hands of Mrs. Bhavana Janardhan Bhandari, in the presence of Panch members Sachin Naik (Loliem-Polem), Panch Pravir Bhandari (Painguinim).
Also, individual prizes including Best Batsman -Sidharth Naik, Man-of-the-tournament Uday Shet, Highest Sixers Sidharth Naik, Fare play Team – Faskal Boys and Upcoming Team Young Janasena.
Senior Cricket Players Sandesh Naik (Polem), Dilip Komarpant (Devabhag) and Amar Naik (Loliem) were felicitated at the hands of the guests.
