PONDA: A 21-year-old woman was found dead in the temple pond at Kapileshwari in Ponda on Tuesday evening, police said.
According to police, a phone call was received from PCR Panaji on April 29, 2026, at around 4:59 pm informing that a woman had jumped into the Kapileshwari pond.
During enquiry, police visited the spot where the body of the woman was traced in the temple pond waters at Kapileshwari. With the assistance of Fire Force personnel, the body was retrieved from the pond.
The deceased was later identified as Sejal Tilve, 21, a resident near Bhagwati Temple, Queula, Ponda.
Police conducted the scene of unnatural death occurrence panchanama and inquest panchanama at the site. The body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for further medico-legal formalities.
Further enquiry in the case is being conducted by PSI Chetan Naik of Ponda Police Station.
