MARGAO: Cuncolim Police have registered an unnatural death case following the death of a 22-year-old man who was allegedly found after a suicide attempt inside a company premises at IDC Cuncolim in Salcete.
According to police, a phone call was received on May 14 at around 5:50 pm from Brijmohan Sharma informing that a person had allegedly committed suicide by hanging inside Vedanga Infratech company at IDC Cuncolim.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and found a 108 ambulance already present at the location. Upon entering the room, officers noticed a man lying unconscious on the ground in a supine position.
The victim was immediately shifted to South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, in a 108 ambulance, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
During enquiry, the deceased’s cousin, Ratan Singh, identified him as Vishal Lakhan, aged 22 years, presently residing in Cuncolim and originally from Narela, Delhi. Police said the deceased was reportedly a chronic alcoholic.
Police conducted the unnatural death occurrence panchanama and inquest panchanama over the body. The body has been preserved at SGDH Margao for further medico-legal formalities.
Further enquiry is being carried out by PSI Sahil Pagui of Cuncolim Police Station.
