BICHOLIM: A 23-year-old man was found unconscious at his residence in Maulinguem, Bicholim, on Wednesday morning and was later declared brought dead at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bicholim.
According to Bicholim Police, a medical memo was received from the Medical Officer of CHC Bicholim at around 8.29 am on September 23, informing them that Govind Gaonkar, 23, a resident of Paltadwada, Maulinguem, had been brought to the health centre by a 108 ambulance from his residence.
During the enquiry, police learnt from the deceased’s family that Govind had dinner on the night of September 22 and went to sleep in his bedroom. The following morning, his mother found him unconscious on the bed while attempting to wake him.
His family immediately informed his brother and shifted him to CHC Bicholim in a 108 ambulance. The Medical Officer examined him and declared him brought dead.
Police subsequently visited CHC Bicholim and conducted an inquest panchanama. The body was then sent to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for post-mortem examination.
The post-mortem was conducted by Dr Milind M. Gudyekar of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, GMC Bambolim. The post-mortem report has reserved the cause of death pending the chemical analysis of viscera.
After the examination, the body was handed over to the deceased’s brother, Harshad Gaonkar, for the last rites.
Bicholim Police have registered U.D. No. 63/2026 under Section 194 of the BNSS, 2023.
