DABOLIM: Three people from London tested positive today morning at the Goa International Airport.
The samples will now be sent for genome sequencing at NIV-Pune.
“This is with reference to flight AI 146 that arrived from UK today morning. 237 travellers tested on arrival. 3 patients have been tested positive,” said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
This tally includes A 41year old British national of Goan origin who tested positive today morning at the airport. The patient has been isolated at PHC-Cansaulim.
Rane further said that all other negative travellers will be kept in strict home quarantine and retested on day 8 or earlier if symptomatic.
“According to the Government of India Guidelines/protocols, necessary directions have been issued to DHS in this regard,” he added.
The Health Minister also said that regarding cases reported last week, of the 5 suspected patients, 4 patients are asymptomatic, the 5th Patient who is symptomatic is improving and off oxygen.
The said traveller flew down to Goa 98th in the series of VBM flights that arrived from London- Heathrow today at Goa International Airport.
AAI Goa Airport said exclusive spaces were earmarked for testing facility and ramped up the infrastructure required for post-arrival testing of Int’l arriving passengers. Sufficient Registration counters, swab collection centres, waiting areas are provided for smooth management, safety & convenience of pax.
Meanwhile, Goa Airport has slashed the rates of Rapid PCR test being conducted at the Airport for Int’l passengers w.e.f 09.12.2021. The existing rate of Rs.3200 per Rapid PCR test is reduced to Rs.2400.
