MARGAO: Five people have been charged by the Fatorda Police with defrauding a Margao resident out of Rs 62.64 lakh by promising to sell a property in Chinchinim village. Abdul Gafoor Ahmed Shaikh, who lives in the Osa Mystic Building in Sirvodem-Salcete, filed a complaint alleging that on December 12, 2024, at the Office of Civil Registrar Cum-Sub Registrar Salcete, Margao, the accused—Maria De Fatima Valentine De Sa Reis Fernandes, Rommel Wellington Dos Reis Fernandes, Tina Dos Reis Fernandes, and Reuben Schiegel Teodorinho Dos Reis Fernandes—all of Chinchinim, and Yashin (Nabeel) Esmail Sha, who lived in Mugali.
Using a Power of Attorney, he claimed that the accused approached him and persuaded him to buy the 920 square metre plot in Chinchinim by allegedly hiding the fact that the accused had already sold the plot to another buyer through a deed of sale dated 7/11/2023 that was filed in the office of the Civil Registrar Cum Sub Registrar Salcete, Margao. He further claimed that on December 12, 2024, the accused people dishonestly executed the sale deed of the same plot, bearing survey no. 305/2-A of the village Chinchinim, before Civil Repgistrar-cum-Sub Registrar Salcete by misleading him and defrauding him of RS. 62.64 lakhs, which he repeatedly transferred into the accused persons’ bank account.
