PANAJI: A case has been registered against a Russian national for allegedly sexually abusing a six-year-old girl during a night camp in North Goa, police said.
The police said that the complainant said that the accused, Ilia Vasulev organized a night camp in Arambol in North Goa, where he molested a minor girl, the news agency reported, IANS.
The incident happened in the middle of the night between February 4 and 5. The victim’s parents filed a complaint on February 19.
An offense has been registered under Section 376 IPC, Section 8 (2) of the GC Act, and Sections 4 and 8 of the POCSO Act and the police are investigating.
The accused has not yet been arrested, but officials will seek help from the Russian authorities.
In another unrelated incident, a local court on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old man to death for raping and killing a three-year-old girl in 2018, police said.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Shashi Chauhan also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the accused, they said.
The court awarded Rs 10 lakh compensation for rehabilitation to the victim’s family, police said.
Special Prosecutor Sunil Parmar said that a youth from Uttar Pradesh raped and brutally killed a three-year-old girl in the Sector 65 police station area on November 11, 2018.
The incident happened when the three girls were playing outside their house, he added.
Parmar said that the accused lured the women with money. Two women were not ready to go, but he brought a three-year-old girl, he added. When the girl did not return home until the evening, her parents searched for her and filed a complaint, according to the police.
The girl’s body was found in a bruised condition the next day in front of a temple in the area, they said. While there were gunshot wounds on the girl’s body, her face was smashed with a brick, according to the police.
The woman’s private parts were also found with serious injuries, they said. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) Act and sections of murder and rape, police said.
