In a significant crackdown on narcotics, Mandrem Police Station has arrested one Varun Bawa from Himachal Pradesh, for illegally possessing approximately 630 grams of suspected charas, valued at Rs. 6,30,000.
The raid was conducted on October 24, 2024, near Urmi Yoga Academy at Arambol, Pernem, Goa, was led by PSI Paresh Kale and accompanied by two panchas and staff of Mandrem Police Station.
The accused person was found in an illegal possession of 630 grams of suspected charas, One silver-colored weighing pocket scale,. Rs. 6,000 in cash and One Plus 9R mobile phone with SIM card.
The accused was found in possession of narcotics substances in his possession which he apparently come to sell to his prospective customers, constituting a cognizable offense under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act, 1985. The total value of seized items is approximately Rs. 6,30,000/-.
PSI Paresh Kale and team acted on specific information to conduct the raid. The accused has been placed under arrest following Supreme Court guidelines.
Further investigation is underway, led by LPSI Archana Sharma of Mandrem Police Station under the Supervision of PI Mandrem P.S. Shri Sharif Jaques and SDPO Pernem Shri Jivba Dalvi under overall Supervision of SP North Shri Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
