PANAJI: Minister for Revenue Babush Monserrate today said that 661 and 110 Mundkarial cases are pending with Mamlatdar and Dy Collector respectively.
“661 and 110 Mundkarial cases are pending with Mamlatdar and Dy Collector respectively. As regards to Collector North, no such cases are pending, said Minister.
The Minister also stated that a review meeting will be held every month or two by the District Collector to go over the performance of mamlatdars and take corrective measures accordingly.
This will have a special focus on expediting ‘mundkarial’ cases and thoroughly checking the applications sent in at the first instance itself as opposed to finding faults at a much later stage, by which time it becomes a legal matter and is drawn out in the courts.
Monserrate also added that the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) had recently cleared the hiring of over dozen mamlatdars which would also help lessen the present load at the Revenue department.
It may be recalled that the government had decided to expedite the process of appointing special Mamlatdars to exclusively deal with over 4,500 mundkar and tenancy cases.
Monserrate said that Mamlatdars will hold hearings even on Saturdays for timely disposal of the cases.
“We have set a one-year target to dispose off the pending cases and we are confident to achieve it,” he had said.
