VASCO: Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board (GKAVIB) Chairman and Cortalim MLA Anton Vas on Sunday said that the officials of the board were willing to go to the doorstep of the people to explain various schemes and assist prospective entrepreneurs.
Vas speaking to reporters after a mega awareness camp, also appealed the Panchayats in Goa to have an awareness camp where various schemes could be explained to the people at the village level to help generate self-employment.
Vas also assured us to extend all. Support through the officials for the training of the people to utilise the scheme for business
“We have organised a mega awareness camp and explained the various schemes and opportunities available for the Goan youth. Despite all assurances, we often cannot offer government jobs to everyone. We have this huge opportunity in GKAVIB, where various opportunities exist to generate self-employment and earn more money,” he said
Vas added, “Most people are unaware of these schemes, and I appeal to the people to come to our office and avail of these schemes and understand the huge business opportunities and subsidies available. I also took a loan of Rs 15,000 under the Khadi Board in 1993 when I had a small Gadda, and this loan helped me establish my business and finally land in politics and become the MLA and the Chairman of the GKAVIB. We have explained many schemes in detail and case there is a group of minimum of ten persons, we are even willing to go to the doorstep, across any location in Goa, along with our officials and explain all the schemes and financial assistance available,” said Vas
GKAVIB Member Roquezinho D’Souza said he had been a member of GKAVIB around 20 years ago.
“I have been appointed a member again through Anton Vas, and I am well aware of all the schemes and finance available because I have also used them in the past. I appeal to all the youth to come forward and avail the benefits of these schemes because we want to develop self-employment opportunities all over the state by taking such awareness camps across the panchayats in Goa. We want to take the benefits of the schemes and business opportunities to a wider area across the state so that the maximum number of people are benefited. We have had two board meetings already, and our Chairman, Anton Vas, has been stressing that the awareness has to be held on a larger scale, and we have to increase our reach to all the villages in Goa. These awareness camps have not been held for several years now, but we have begun this drive to ensure that such awareness camps are held in almost all locations in the state,” said D’Souza.
Cortalim Sarpanch Senia Periera appreciated Vas for taking the initiative of the awareness camp
“We have seen how people go to the department for support, but the department is willing to come to our doorstep with the benefits. The GKAVIB has explained all the different schemes, and there are many opportunities for every business, from small to big. We have realised that people don’t need investment because the government gives almost 90 per cent of the loan and subsidies. There is also financial support for small businesses like barbers, plumbers, carpenters etc., and people must make the most of these opportunities. ” said Pereira.
