PONDA: For obtaining financial schemes, Aadhaar is one important document. However, a few years ago, when Aadhaar car enrollment started in Goa, most operators/ employees involved in Aadhaar card documentation/ preparations were outsiders.
People say they have committed so many mistakes in the Aadhar card that people suffering from rectifying those. The locals in Ponda also demanded a permanent Adhaar centre and rectifying the mistakes at one time instead of wasting several days clearing every mistake in the Aadhaar card.
Pondaitees are fed up with rectifying mistakes done in their aadhaar card by operators while enrolling for Aadhaar. Despite having proof and documents of their resident address, and birth certificates, they are suffering due to complicated procedures for rectifying Aadhaar card mistakes done by Operators.
A student at Kavlem asked PM Narendra Modi to look into grievances faced by people in rectifying Aadhaar cards.
Even after paying a fee of Rs 100, there is no guarantee that the Aadhaar card would be rectified in the first attempt. The Aadhaar card operators tell that only one correction can be made at a time on Aadhaar Card, and so people have to visit at Aadhaar Card rectification point again and again and also have to pay fees for mistakes made by Aadhaar Card operators.
Ponda locals asked why citizens should suffer for mistakes made by operators while making their Aadhaar Card.
The Ponda Locals said the migrant employee operators, while preparing Aadhaar cards, had committed so many mistakes that it is not possible to rectify at a time. The Aadhaar Card operators appointed in one Bank tell that they will have to visit again and again to rectify every single mistake in Aadhar Card and that at a time, only one mistake can be rectified.
For e.g. a girl who had completed 18 years of age wanted to file an application for Ladli Laxmi Scheme, and so she went to one Bank where she wanted to rectify the mistakes made by the Operator. She said it was not easy. She wasted one week, but still, Aadhaar is not rectified.
She said some Banks are correcting/enrolling aadhaar cards in Ponda. She said early morning, one has to wait in front of the Bank to take the number. Then the Bank employees give the number and time on a small paper and ask to visit the Aadhaar Card operator at Bank.
Next time, the operators updated her photo and called her to update her village name. After correcting the village name, the Operator asked him to come next time to rectify the date of birth on the Adhaar Card. She said she has been suffering to find out time for Aadhaar card rectification since the past week and to attend her college classes.
Meanwhile, Pondaitees also demanded a permanent Aadhaar Card Centre at Ponda by deputing local Goan employees to rectify or prepare fresh Aadhaar cards of children.
They also said that in case of mistakes by operators, the rectification in address, including a correction in name, mobile number, village name, and date of birth, should be done on the same day. Why the people are called again and again for rectification wasting their time and money.
With no permanent Aadhar card centre, people are forced to run from pillar to post, waste time, and pay exorbitant fees for Aadhaar card correction. They demanded the Aadhaar card rectification job should be given to every panchayat.
