QUEPEM: Former and present MLAs of the Quepem constituency crossed swords over the new panchayat Ghar issue in the presence of the Chief Minister at Betul during the coronation ceremony of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The political and personal differences between the Congress MLA Altone D’Costa and the Former Quepem MLA and BJP leader Babu Kavlekar came out in the open on Monday during the coronation ceremony of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Betul in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
While addressing in programme Directorate of Archives and Archaeology, commemorating Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Coronation Day at Betul, the local Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa requested CM Dr Pramod Sawant to visit panchayat Ghar at Betul. As invited, CM visited the local panchayat and inspected the site, where he noticed that the existing panchayat Ghar is in dilapidated condition.
Further, Chief Minister Sawant held a discussion with panch member and Sarpanch and at that time argument between the Quepem MLA D’Costa and Ex MLA Kavlekar reportedly broke down. Later the fight ended with the interference of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
Meanwhile, Sarpanch Seby Jose Fernandes said structure is really in bad condition. “I think we should keep politics aside and work for the betterment of panchayat,” he said.
Local MLA of Quepem Altone D’Costa said CM Dr Pramod Sawant is willing to do good for Betul panchayat and why ex MLA wants to stop this process for the betterment of panchayat.
D’Costa put forward three important works that need to be done before CM are Betul panchayat ghar, health centre, and playing ground in Betul panchayat area.
