Goemkarponn Desk PORVORIM: Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik informed the House that Goa’s sole sugar factory has not been operating and that attempts to rehabilitate it by converting it into an ethanol production plant have also not received a response. Goemkarponn desk COLVA: In a shocking incident, a canoe on board 13 including fishermen and helpers capsized off Colva beach coast due to heavy rains and rough sea conditions. The mishap occurred at around 10 AM when the canoe ventured into the sea, which is currently choppy due to bad weather. There were 13 fishermen on board the motorised canoe which capsized a little away from the shore in South Goa. New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay Patna High Court order that set aside the increase in reservation for Backward Classes, SC & ST from 50 per cent to 65 per cent in public employment and admission to educational institutions. A bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices J B Pardiwla and Manoj Misra, however, agreed to hear at least 10 petitions of the Bihar government against the Patna HC verdict.
