The High Court of Bombay at Goa today has directed the government and State Election Commission (SEC) to respond to a petition challenging the process of the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Elections slated to be held this month. The petitioner has claimed that the ZP poll notification was issued in Feb and the polls were postponed subsequently in view of Covid Pandemic and holding polls without fresh notification, process and code of conduct is against violation of law and that a fresh process has to be initiated. Panaji: Tense situation prevailed in Honda Sattari after the controversial police inspector Sagar Ekoskar allegedly manhandled the local village sarpanch Suresh Madkar this morning. Sources said the locals gathered at Honda near a mining company to stop mining transport trucks. The police arrested the locals and the PI allegedly assaulted the sarpanch, sources said.
