Team Goemkarponn PANAJI: The Goa government has informed the High Court that it has, in principle, agreed to relocate the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj installed on Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) property at Sada. The statement was made during the hearing of the matter concerning the installation of the statue on MPA land. The government informed the court that the process of identifying a suitable site on government land is underway. Team Goemkarponn PANAJI: Tarun Tejpal, former editor-in-chief of Tehelka magazine, has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court challenging his conviction and 10-year prison sentence in a 2013 rape case. The petition challenges the judgment of the High Court dated August 6, by which Tejpal was convicted of raping a junior female colleague in 2013 and sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment. Tejpal has now approached the Supreme Court seeking relief against the High Court judgment and his conviction.
