SANGUEM: BJP leader and wife of Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar, Savitri Kavalekar publicly expressed her willingness to contest the assembly election from Sanguem constituency in 2022. Savitri has claimed a sureshot victory on the BJP ticket from Sanguem emphasizing that many BJP supporters are backing her throughout.
During a public meeting held in Sanguem bus stand, hundreds of Savitri Kavlekar’s supporters remained present for the meet and showcased their support to the BJP ticket aspirant Savitri Kavlekar. In her address Kavlekar claimed that she is sure of winning in Sanguem on BJP ticket on the basis of the enormous support she has been receiving from the Sanguem locals during campaigning and also for the public meeting.
She also urged all women from Sanguem to stand with her and give her a chance to represent them in the legislative assembly.
Kavalekar said that “during the last five years I have been working hard to solve the problems of ordinary voters, but no one blamed me nor were there any allegations on me at that time”. Those who are criticizing me now have not seen the social service I have done. The opposition just spent time blaming me” she said.
Former District Panchayat President Navnath Naik said that there is a Hiranyakashyapu in Sanguem who was instrumental in removing him as BJP president of Sanguem. If the BJP state President Sadanand Shet Tanawade says that Navnath Naik was ousted, then let him announce it publicly.
Naik further added that despite Kavlekar’s defeat five years ago, Savitri has been working in various fields in the Sanguem constituency for a long time now. During her campaigning the voters in Sanguem have stood firmly behind Savitri.
On this occasion, councilor Messhu D’costa, Kavrem Pirla Panchayat Sarpanch Simran Gaokar, Sadanand Gawde, Anand Naik, Chandan Unandkar, former chairperson of Sanguem municipality Changuna Salgaonkar, Pandurang Tari, Harsha Sambari, Sagun Gaokar, Kanta Kalekar, Mahesh Gaokar, Chandrakant Gaokar, Nanu Bhandolkar, Uday Gaokar, Santosh Gaokar, Janu Tate, Janu Jore, many senior BJP party, former Sarpanchs, Panchs were present.
