AGACAIM: Agacaim Police have registered a cyber fraud case after a 40-year-old Bambolim resident allegedly lost ₹2,85,993 after clicking on a fraudulent link purportedly related to a traffic violation challan.
The offence was registered at 2.58 pm on September 23, 2026, following the receipt of Zero FIR No. 0(305)/2026, dated September 17, from the Cyber Crime Police Station, Ribandar.
According to the complaint filed by Tapendra, 40, a service professional residing near the Government Primary School in Bambolim, the incident occurred between September 7 and 12 at his residence in Bambolim, Tiswadi.
Police stated that an unidentified person, using mobile number 9500192588, allegedly sent the complainant a fraudulent link falsely claiming to be connected to a red-light traffic violation challan involving his vehicle.
Believing the link to be genuine, the complainant clicked on it and unknowingly downloaded and installed an APK application on his mobile phone.
Subsequently, an amount of ₹2,85,993 was allegedly debited from his Bank of India account through multiple unauthorised transactions.
The complainant alleged that he was cheated through the fraudulent application and that the transactions were carried out without his knowledge or authorisation.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of LPSI Raksha Naik of Agacaim Police Station.
