VASCO: A 33-year-old labourer from Bihar died after allegedly suffering an electric shock while working at an under-construction Indian Navy site near IOC Junction in Vasco on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Sola Kumar Ram, a native of Shumbha in Bihar.
According to Vasco police, information about the incident was received from the Casualty Police at Sub District Hospital (SDH), Chicalim at around 6.51 pm after the victim was brought to the hospital in an unconscious condition.
Police inquiry revealed that the deceased was working at the under-construction Navy site located behind Vasco Police Station when he allegedly came in contact with an electric source at the work site. He reportedly collapsed after suffering the shock and was immediately shifted to SDH Chicalim, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Vasco police later conducted the inquest panchanama over the body, which was subsequently preserved at South District Hospital, Margao for medico-legal formalities.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Akanksh Fadte Dessai of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
