Margao – It is the failure of the BJP Government at the Centre as well as the State to convince the people to take Covid vaccination. The government itself created confusion in the minds of the people on various counts which created a sense of panic charged Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat.
I am taking personal interest in mobilising 45 plus citizens from Margao to take first dose of vaccine during the four day vaccination drive in the city which will commence on 31st May and conclude on 3rd June 2021. All the Councillors of Model Margao panel and my hard waorking workers will mobilise people to get inoculated. I urge Government to ensure that enough stock of vaccines is made available and the drive is carried for the full day, Digambar Kamat stated.
I appeal to Citizens of Margao who are entitled to take the first dose of Vaccination to get inoculated. Our volunteers will be always ready to assist the Citizens in case they need transport or any other help to reach to the Vaccination Centre.
The repeated contradictory statements on gap of vaccination, lack of clarity on whether Covid recovered patients can take vaccines etc were deliberately floated by the BJP to buy time to get stock of vaccines. The BJP government woke up only after the second wave hit the nation very badly.
It is important that BJP Government displays photos of Healthcare and Frontline Workers on advertisements issued for awareness of vaccination drives. People have lost complete confidence and trust on the BJP Government and seeing the photos of BJP Governments PM, CM, Ministers and Functionaries on publicity material will further create fear in the minds of the people stated Digambar Kamat.
I strongly condemn the statement of the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant who has tried to blame some local Panchayats as well as the Elected Representatives for slow response to vaccination in Goa. It is the administrative failure of the BJP Government which has resulted in complete chaos in Covid management Digambar Kamat said.
The initial confusion on vaccination started when contradictory statements were issued by the government on giving approvals to vaccines. The BJP Government gave approval to Covaxin without completion of phase 3 trials. These actions created doubts and sense of insecurity in the minds of the people.
A shocking incident has emerged from BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh, where almost 20 persons were given first dose of Covishield and they were given Covaxin as the second dose. Government needs to take utmost precautions while giving vaccine doses Digambar Kamat said.
There are reports of Goa Government likely to procure two lakh doses of Covaxin to inoculate 18 to 44 age group. Government must educate people on these vaccines and develop confidence in their minds. Goa government must ensure that incidents like Uttar Pradesh are not repeated in Goa with cocktail of vaccine doses.
