CALANGUTE: Calangute Police Station has intensified its crackdown on illegal touting activities in a bid to safeguard tourists and maintain the area’s reputation as a premier destination.
According to a press note, police booked 37 touts in the past week alone, taking the total number of cases registered in 2026 to 235. The drive is aimed at ensuring that tourists visiting Calangute can enjoy a hassle-free experience without being harassed or inconvenienced.
Officials stated that strict action is being taken under the Tourist Trade Act, 1982, which prescribes a fine of ₹5,000 for each offender involved in touting activities.
Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that visitors leave Calangute with positive memories. The ongoing enforcement drive highlights the department’s proactive approach towards curbing nuisance and protecting tourist interests in the coastal belt.
