CANACONA: The upcoming developmental projects in Canacona receives shots in the arm, with the Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar continuing his streak of visits, lately inspecting the much delayed works of construction of prestigious Canacona Municipality building at Chaudi.
Tawadkar on Tuesaday alongiwth Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar and ruling councilors inspected the ongoing construction works of 1+2 Storeyed Canacona Municipal Building in the presence of GSIDC Consultant Datta Kare, other GSIDC officials and Contractor.
Speaking at the site, Tawadkar stated that everybody feels the works are badly delayed, and were proceeding at a slow pace. “The works supposed to be completed in two years time are badly delayed, and the third year is running. However, now the good thing is two contractors (Main contractor has sub-let part of the works to another contractor) are simultaneously engaged in executing the works, which not only will hasten the works, but expects for early completion as well.’
After a thorough inspection, Tawadkar further announced that contractor should not find it difficult now to complete the works by Mar or April’2024 and handover the building to the people before the onset on next monsoon.
Incidentally, the 1+2 municipal complex will have shops/commercial establishments on its first floor, the entire second floor will be municipal Administrative Block, and the third floor will have a Hall with over 600 seating capacity.
Incidentally, the works are still progressing only at second stage, but according to Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar, Contractor who has engaged another contractor has assured to complete the works by March’2024 end. Naik further informed that since the Library will be housed at upcoming Ravindra Bhavan, spaced earlier marked for Library will be offered to any willing Bank/s in the municipal building, besides one room each will be made available to Senior Citizens Forum of Canacona and Canacona Patrakar Sangh as Press-Room.
