PANAJI: The Corporation of the City of Panaji has approved its proposed Budget Estimates for the financial year 2026–27 without increasing house tax, a move Mayor Rohit Monserrate said was aimed at avoiding additional financial burden on citizens.
The budget, estimated at ₹107.17 crore, was cleared during a CCP meeting chaired by the Mayor. It focuses on civic infrastructure, sanitation, public services, revenue management and development projects across Panaji.
Monserrate said several development initiatives are already underway under the new budget, including the setting up of a dedicated centre for autistic children, which the CCP claims will be the first such facility of its kind in the country.
He further stated that monsoon preparedness works are in progress across the city to address seasonal challenges and improve civic convenience for residents.
According to the Mayor, the budget has been designed to strengthen public amenities and urban infrastructure while maintaining financial relief for taxpayers.
