MARGAO: Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, today questioned the state government regarding the suspension of vans that provided Goans with fish at reduced prices.
Nilkanth Halarnkar, the minister of fisheries, responded by noting that the program was run by the federal government and that it was discontinued after four years.
“The aforementioned scheme was a central government initiative that was discontinued after four years. The PM Matasya Sampada Yojana is a new initiative from the government, according to Halarnkar.
The state government cannot examine the earlier program because it was a federal program, to which Kamat responded that the state government can start with the aforementioned program for Goans.
To evaluate an earlier program, the center government will receive the suggestion, according to the minister of fisheries.
“Now, the new PM Matyas Sampanda scheme is allowing 60/40 subsidy to buy vehicles for selling of fish,” he continued.
