PANAJI: The Global Wind Day Conference held in Goa brought together policymakers, industry leaders, developers, investors and energy experts to deliberate on strengthening India’s wind energy sector and accelerating the country’s clean energy transition.
Organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on the theme “Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration,” the conference focused on the critical role of wind power in enhancing energy security, driving economic growth and promoting environmental sustainability.
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said India’s renewable energy sector has witnessed significant growth over the past decade, with wind and solar emerging as key drivers of sustainable development. He stressed that strong policies, quality infrastructure and effective implementation are essential for India to emerge as a global leader in renewable energy.
Minister of State Shripad Naik highlighted the need to scale up wind energy capacity while addressing transmission and infrastructure challenges. Minister Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar described wind energy as a clean, affordable and environmentally sustainable source essential for a greener future.
During the conference, three e-books—Digital Commissioning Record, Advancing Wind Power in India and Elevating India’s Wind Turbine Exports for Global Markets—were launched virtually. The event also saw the felicitation of distinguished contributors to the renewable energy sector.
The conference concluded with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to collaboration, innovation and sustained investment to accelerate wind energy expansion and support India’s low-carbon development goals.
