CANACONA: Chaotic condition at Majali Checkpost across Polem border was witnessed today was Karnataka sleuths began to insist RT-PCR test reports to enter Karnataka of travellers from Goa.
Chaos reigned at Karnataka’s Majali check-post across the Polem border in Canacona, as travellers from Goa were stopped, as Karnataka suddenly declares SOP insisting a 72 hours valid negative Rt-PCR test report for travellers entering from Goa.
While travellers were stopped at Majali checkpost demanding RT-PCR negative test reports beginning Thursday morning, travellers from Karnataka and elsewhere freely entered into Goa.
Several people from Goa were stopped and stranded at Polem border check-post after Karnataka sleuths suddenly announced SOP asking 72 Hours Valid Rt-PCR negative report to enter Karnataka, irrespective of having both the Covid Vaccination Certificates.
The ban has been imposed from 7 am by Karnataka at Majali Border as several inter-state travellers and Goans entering Karnataka are stranded on Goa’s Polem side.
Interestingly, as there is no ban or SOP except for random check by sleuths at Goa’s Polem checkpost for the Covid Vaccination Certificates.
Meanwhile, in a sudden surge of Covid cases in Goa, Canacona had 46 fresh Covid cases within two weeks, while one Omicron case was detected from the Taluka.
Incidentally, a chaotic situation reigned at the Polem border as many Goan vehicles were barred from entering without Rt-PCR test negative reports.
According to a traveller, over 150 non-Goan vehicles were allowed entry into Karnataka, while RT-PCR negative tests are being asked only from Goan Traveller’s, including public transportation and Kadamba buses which were headed towards Karwar and other places and important works to Karwar, were stopped and we’re not being allowed to enter Karnataka without valid Rt-PCR test.
Incidentally, the Transportation from Karnataka, including ST buses, were seen freely entering Goa, Polem border.
