CHICALIM: Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav marked his birthday by launching the Gomati Foundation, a social welfare initiative aimed at promoting education, healthcare and community development in Mormugao Taluka.
The Foundation was inaugurated by Goa Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho in the presence of BJP Goa President Damu Naik, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, panch members, social workers and a large gathering of local residents.
As part of the inaugural programme, a newly developed government school premises was dedicated to students, while a free ambulance service was flagged off under the Foundation to provide emergency medical assistance, particularly to those unable to afford private medical transport.
A key initiative announced by the Foundation is the sponsorship of the complete education of 10 students from economically weaker families every year. The beneficiaries will be selected from different parts of Mormugao Taluka, with the Foundation bearing their educational expenses to ensure financial hardship does not hinder their studies.
The celebrations also featured several community service activities aligned with the Foundation’s objectives. A blood donation camp drew enthusiastic participation from volunteers, while a large-scale tree plantation drive was organised under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign to promote environmental conservation.
Speaking at the event, the dignitaries welcomed the launch of the Gomati Foundation and expressed confidence that its initiatives in education, healthcare and environmental protection would positively impact the lives of people across Mormugao Taluka.
The Foundation has pledged to continue undertaking projects focused on social welfare and the overall development of the region.
