CANACONA – A modern kiosk with two shutters at Chaudi appeared from nowhere in a day and has raised eyebrows as it is allegedly illegal.
According to CMC Councillor Pandurang alias Dhiraj Naikgaunkar, a two-storey and spacious Gadda with two shutters and a roof tiles designed rooftop cover has suddenly appeared from nowhere across the NH-66 road, at a prime location opposite Laziz Pizza-Amul Shop at Chaudi on Tuesday.
“When asked, CMC Chief Officer informed me that the notice is served for the illegal erection of the structure. However, as the structure is raised just across the NH-66 road, I have received a cold shoulder response from the PWD (highway) official, who bluntly replied that the Highway authorities have nothing to do with the illegality, clearly refusing to act on the matter,” he said.
Further, he asked how any responsible officer can behave like that when informed about daylight illegality taking place right under the nose of the public?
When asked, CMC Chairperson Simon Rebello virtually agreed to the erection of a structure and informed CMC had already issued a notice and action would be initiated against the alleged culprits.
Sources informed that CMC has neither issued any NOC nor any request pending the sudden appearance of the Gadda structure in the prime location is allegedly the handwork of influential people in the area.
It is alleged that the fabrication of the Gadda was done somewhere else, and it was shifted and fixed at the site in an overnight mission.
Two political party flags are also seen prominently displayed in the alleged illegal structure.
