COLVA: A Colva resident has lodged a complaint alleging that he was cheated of ₹5 lakh by a woman who allegedly promised to arrange overseas employment at attractive salaries.
According to the complaint filed by Bashasab Siddapur, a resident of Colva, the incident relates to an alleged transaction on August 12, 2024, at Colva.
The complainant alleged that the accused, Fidol Jolina Pereira, represented that she could secure overseas employment for him and was operating a recruitment office in Margao. Believing her assurances, Siddapur allegedly paid her a total of ₹5 lakh towards securing a job abroad.
Of the amount, ₹3 lakh was reportedly transferred through a bank transaction, while the remaining ₹2 lakh was paid in cash.
However, the accused allegedly failed to arrange the promised overseas employment and did not refund the money despite receiving the amount, resulting in financial loss to the complainant.
Further investigation in the case is being conducted by PSI Anil Krishna of Colva Police Station.
