PANAJI: Responding to criticism over the Mhaje Ghar Yojana, MLA Atanasio “Babush” Monserrate said the scheme has brought relief to many families who were able to receive sanads after waiting for decades.
However, he maintained that a large number of pending applications are delayed due to the non-issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) by Communidades.
Monserrate urged the Communidades to cooperate and issue the required NOCs so that eligible beneficiaries can complete the process. At the same time, he clarified that the government cannot interfere in the independent decisions of Communidades, making their cooperation essential for the scheme’s success.
Speaking on national politics, Monserrate said prayers were offered for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s success and good health. Calling Modi the country’s longest-serving Prime Minister, he expressed hope that the Prime Minister would secure another mandate in 2029, adding that “the people judge and the people will decide” based on service to the nation.
On local infrastructure, Monserrate said he would take up the issue of the Campal football ground, which has been developed but is yet to become fully operational.
He explained that the ground was developed by SUDA on land belonging to the Town and Country Planning Department and was later intended to be handed over to the Corporation of the City of Panaji.
He said he would meet the concerned ministers to resolve the pending issues and ensure the facility is put to proper use.
