Congress leader Vijay Bhike has lodged a complaint against Sunburn organisers of insulting Hindu God Shiva at teh festival venue.
In his complaint to Anjuna police Bhike said the organisers of the ongoing event “Sunburn” at Anjuna, Goa have committed a deliberate malicious act of putting up a large printed image/ visible representation of our Hindu God Lord “Shiva” in the said EDM festival with intent to outrage religious feelings of all Hindus of Goa. “The religious worship of Shiva in Goa state follows strict vegetarian guidelines and almost all Goan Hindus do not consume non-vegetarian food specifically on Mondays if not fasting as part of shiva worship. Drinking of alcohol and consuming other things is not just a strict no but also outrageous and sacrilegious. In such circumstances the organisers of this drink and dance festival have in a pre planned manner have intentionally insulted the religious feelings of Hindus of Goa portraying that our god Shiva supports drinking alcohol, consumption of prohibited substances and all the other illicit activities that take place during the said event,” the complainant says.
Further, he says, in the circumstances the undersigned complainant request you to take cognisance of the present complaint which discloses the offence under section 259A of the Indian Penal Code, register a FIR against the organisers of “Sunburn” and take appropriate action against all those known and unknown persons who are responsible for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus of Goa as per appropriate provisions of the law.
Photocopies of the said image put up by the above event organisers as displayed in the news media prima facie disclosing the offence under section 295 A of IPC are enclosed herewith for your necessary action, he said.
