Congress accuses BJP of indulging in phone tapping of its candidates ahead of counting
PANAJI: Ahead of counting day on March 10, the Congress party has accused BJP of indulging in phone tapping of its leaders and candidates.
Addressing a press conference, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar accused BJP of it’s phone tapping its leaders and candidates.
He said that a similar strategy was adopted by BJP in Karnataka to topple the Congress government there.
“BJP has hired a private agency to tap the phones of Congress leaders and candidates. This is done illegally,” he said.
Chodankar said that if BJP government is doing this on legal parameters, then make public names of all those whose phones are trapped.
“We warn government officers who are involved in these illegal activities under pressure to stop immediately or face legal action,” Congress president said.
The counting of votes for Goa Assembly elections is scheduled for March 10.
“We are in touch with all non-congress leaders to ensure BJP is thrown out of power,” he said
Congress maintained that BJP would reduce to single-digit MLAs in the 40-member State Legislative Assembly.
He also said that BJP had betrayed their former allies like MGP and GFP, and hence no one wants to trust the saffron party.
