PANAJI: Claiming that COVID19 situation in Goa has gone out of control due to mismanagement and mess created by BJP government in health sector, the president of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Varad Mardolkar on Wednesday demanded to increase testing facilities across Goa, along with quick testing report.
“Goa requires urgent measures to tackle the COVID as the situation is getting out of control. There is a need to increase testing centers and they should reach every village by means of ‘mobile testing laboratories. If Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant doesn’t pay heed to this suggestion, then he himself will be responsible for the future disaster.” Mardolkar said.
“The report of testing should be given immediately, so those found positive can start medication. Otherwise delay in medication puts the patients in health problems.” He pointed out.
According to him, due to the lackadaisical approach of the BJP government to increase the testing centers, the existing centers are loaded with cases and hence people are forced to come on other days and again stand in a serpentine queue. “This is the reason people hesitate to come for testing and stay at home despite they have symptoms of COVID. As they don’t get proper medication, their health deteriorates and then they are rushed to hospitals. For this reason we need to take ‘mobile testing laboratories’ to every village and wherever the cases have increased.” Mardolkar said, adding this will help to reduce burden on existing testing centers.
He alleged that the government has failed at the primary level of testing and then giving treatment to infected people. “If you (BJP government) cant increase the testing centers, then give permission to conduct the testing. We will manage it systematically and will help people take medication properly.” Mardolkar said.
He lamented saying, at existing testing centers, many people stand in queues too without maintaining social distancing.
“There are cases where COVID vaccines and testing is done on campus, where negative people are coming into contact with positive people. The BJP government has failed to simplify this system.” He said.
Coming down heavily on BJP government for failing to administer the vaccine to persons between 18 to 45 years of age on announced date, Mardolkar said that BJP has purposely delayed this program so the private hospital Manipal (which has shown readiness to administer this vaccine) benefits by charging for this vaccines and the leaders of saffron party gets commission out of that.
“Why should youths pay for this vaccine in private hospitals, when the government had announced it as free. This government has created such a situation, that out of fear people will opt service from private hospitals and thus BJP leaders will benefit monetarily.” Mardolkar charged.
Mardolkar pointed out that, due to the mortality rate of Goa there is fear among people and hence youths hesitate to discharge social work in this crisis. “Youths will get confidence to work for people, once they are administered with vaccine.” He said.
Mardolkar has asked Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to come clear over this and tell people how the private hospital got the vaccine first.
