ANJUNA: A long-running family dispute in Anjuna has escalated into violence, with police registering cross cases against members of the same family following a late-night clash that left two persons injured.
In the first case, Anjuna Police arrested Oberoi D’Cruz for allegedly attempting to murder his brother-in-law, Olwin D’Cruz, during an altercation at their shared residence in Ingrez Waddo on the night of June 28. According to the complaint filed by Mildred D’Cruz, the accused allegedly attacked her husband with a knife with the intention of killing him, causing grievous injuries. Police said the incident was the result of previous enmity arising out of a family dispute. Oberoi D’Cruz was arrested on June 29, and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Saish Kinlekar.
In a counter-complaint, Ashoo D’Cruz (69) alleged that her son, Olwin D’Cruz, grabbed her by the neck and slapped her during the same incident. She further alleged that when her younger son intervened, Olwin D’Cruz and his wife, Mildred D’Cruz, assaulted him with a sickle (koita) and a knife, causing simple injuries.
Police said both families reside separately in the same house and that the violence stemmed from an ongoing family dispute. A cross case has been registered, and further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Leesha P. Garudi.
