MARGAO: Colva Police have registered cross complaints following a violent clash between two groups at Benaulim on April 25, 2026, involving allegations of assault, criminal intimidation, unlawful assembly and property damage.
In the first complaint, Calvin Fernandes, a resident of Acsona, Oddlem Bhatt, Benaulim, alleged that between 6:03 pm and 8:30 pm at Sernabatim Beach and later at Acsona, accused Delroy Fernandes assaulted him by choking his neck and threatening to kill him and his mother.
According to the complaint, when Calvin returned home, Delroy Fernandes along with another unidentified accused allegedly assaulted him again with slaps and punches, pushed his head into a grill, choked him and threw him to the floor.
The complainant further alleged that when his mother attempted to intervene, the accused abused her with filthy language, pulled her hair and pushed her to the ground, thereby allegedly outraging her modesty.
Police said the complaint also stated that Delroy Fernandes along with four unidentified persons later formed an unlawful assembly, assaulted the complainant again, attempted to tie him up and caused bleeding injuries to his nose. The accused also allegedly damaged the complainant’s mother’s bike, causing financial loss.
In a counter complaint, Delroy Fernandes of Benaulim alleged that at around 8:30 pm on the same day, Calvin Fernandes called him on his mobile phone, abused him and threatened him with dire consequences.
Delroy further stated that when he returned home, Calvin Fernandes and other accused persons assaulted him. He alleged that accused Bernandina Fernandes attacked him with an iron rod causing bleeding injuries, while accused Terrance Fernandes allegedly attempted to stab him with a knife.
During the incident, the complainant claimed that he lost his gold chain and his watch was damaged, resulting in a loss estimated at Rs 2.10 lakh.
Further investigations in the two cases are being carried out by PSI Manju Vantamuri and PSI Anil Krishna of Colva Police Station.
