VASCO: Residents of Dabolim, Chicalim objects to fuel tankers parked at the side of the National highway, which causes traffic congestion and may lead to fatal accidents.
Khwaja Bepari, a resident of Dabolim, said due to the haphazard parking of fuel tankers on the National Highway side, commuters have to face great inconvenience.
“The other lane of the road has been closed due to the ongoing bridgework, and the traffic is moving through the single lane. We request the authorities to look into the matter,” he said.
Ayyas Sheikh, another resident of Dabolim, said that we request the Traffic authorities to fine the tanker owners for causing this inconvenience to the general public by obstructing the smooth flow of traffic movement on this single road. Sheikh said that several people have lost their lives due to fatal accidents on this road. If things don’t change for good, then we will meet Transport minister Mauvin Godinho in this matter.
Meanwhile, when contacted Sudesh Narvekar, DySP traffic cell Vasco about this problem, he said that two days ago, he had given instruction to the Vasco traffic police inspector to clear the highway and not to allow parking of these fuel tankers and trucks, which causes obstruction to the smooth movement of traffic from this one lane.
“I will give him a reminder once again and the inspector will do the needful,” he said.
