PANAJI: Panaji Police Station has registered an unnatural death case after a decomposed body was found in a rented room at Caranzalem.
According to police, the incident came to light in the early hours of May 5 following a call received from the PCR unit. PSI Manjunath Naik visited the spot at Mitra Bazar, opposite a salon near an Indian Oil petrol pump, where the deceased was found lying on a bed inside a rented room.
Police said the body was in a decomposed state and emitting a foul smell when discovered. An inquest panchanama was conducted at the scene, and the body was later shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital for preservation and further medico-legal formalities.
The deceased has been identified as Dadapeer Bagwan (43), a resident of Mitra Bazar, Caranzalem.
A case of unnatural death has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Further inquiry is being carried out by PSI Manjunath Naik.
