VASCO: Vasco Police have launched an inquiry after the decomposed body of a man was found beneath a flyover bridge near the RTO Office at Baina on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, information was received from PCR Panaji on 17 May 2026 at around 12:50 pm stating that a person was lying near Ravindra Bhavan, Baina. Upon reaching the spot under the flyover bridge near the RTO Office, police found the body of an unknown male aged between 35 and 40 years in a decomposed condition.
During further inquiry, the deceased was identified as Kanjay Kumar Singh (35), a native of Bihar.
Police conducted the scene of occurrence panchanama and inquest proceedings before shifting the body to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for postmortem examination.
The police surgeon who conducted the autopsy opined that the cause of death was due to damage to the chest, abdomen and spine along with underlying injuries to internal organs caused by blunt force impact. The injuries were stated to be antemortem and fresh at the time of death. Viscera samples have also been preserved for chemical analysis.
Following the postmortem formalities, the body was handed over to family members for final rites. Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Plato Carvalho of Vasco Police Station.
