CANACONA – Stating Canconcars needs to introspect as to what is happening in the State, Goa Forward Party Supremo Vijay Sardesai asked the villagers to defeat BJP-sponsored candidates in the panchayat elections and elect people with an independent mindset to bring new ideas for their village developments.
Sardesai spoke to the media on the sidelines of his religious visit to Shri Mallikarjun Temple on Shravan Somvar.
‘Canconcars are revolutionary people, and they have the chance to lead the way to throw away BJP’s evil mentality of ruling Goa as a family property, by defeating BJP sponsored candidates in panchayat election’.
‘This government is not giving any powers to the panchayats as deemed in the 73rd Amendment Act and reduced it to a toothless body. Bjp government is now conducting elections to loot this toothless body further, and to achieve it, they are fielding their family to contest. They involve their family because they think Goa is their Bapaichem-Bens(Father’s Property), and in this manner, they are trying to rule rob Goa. That’s why I appeal to the highly cultured and clever Canconcars to defeat the BJP candidates.
Vijay regretting that opposition unity didn’t take place inspite of efforts, lauded the coming together of all sundry to defeat the BJP’s evil designs.
‘BJP is repeatedly stating they are functioning on the directives from the centre. The ones who are sitting here are only glorified clerks to move their heads in affirmative to whatever directives they get from the top. We don’t want that. We want a local self-body as an independent body, and whoever is elected should be Independent, free to work independently for the benefit of the village. Canconcars have the potential to show it to the rest of the Goenkars that Goans cannot be taken for granted’.
