CURCHOREM: With the increase in the heinous crimes in Curchorem and nearby areas, local authorities continue to neglect the installation and maintenance of CCTV cameras in strategic locations.
The arrested accused Hussain Khan of the blind murder case of Rupa Shet Parkar was given a 10 days police remand.
It took about nine days for the Blind murder case of Rupa Shet Parkar to solve by joint efforts of South Goa police teams consisting of four police stations of Curchorem, Quepem Sanguem Canacona and Crime Branch.
As we see day by day, heinous crimes are increasing in every part of Goa, but local municipalities and panchayats, even local representatives, do not seem to be in a serious mood about installing CCTV cameras in various locations.
Surprisingly, there are no proper CCTV cameras installed in Quepem, Curchorem, Sanguem or in the Sanvordem area to track crime, which will help find evidence and solve the cases.
Whenever local authorities ask about CCTV cameras installation, they tend to give excuses or hold other departments responsible for not installing cameras.
The police team solved the murder case of Rupa, widow of late Sudhakar Shet Parkar, aged 54 years, the residence of Karmane, Kirlapal, Dharbandoda, whose dead body was found in the isolated at Gandhinagar, Sanvordem.
During the investigation, the technical surveillance was mounted as well as local intelligence was deployed; more than 50 suspects were verified. Finally, the teams were able to zero down one suspect whose movement was later on verified with the crime scene, which led to the arrest of accused Hussain Khan from Cacora-Curchorem.
And during the interrogation, accused Hussain Khan disclosed that he offered a lift to the deceased victim in his vehicle from Karmane and while on the way, he killed her by assaulting them with a lewer and, after that, robbed her gold chain and dumped the dead body in the isolated location at Gandhinagar.
