BICHOLIM: A 34-year-old Ertiga driver was arrested by Bicholim Police for allegedly driving rashly and negligently after his vehicle collided with two motorcycles and later crashed into an electric pole at Mulgao in Bicholim on July 15.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 9 am near Shivolkarwada, Mulgao, when the Ertiga car (GA-03-AM-0497), driven by Pintu Rathod of Verla, Bardez, was travelling from Bicholim towards Assonora. The driver allegedly first rammed into an oncoming Kawasaki motorcycle (GA-08-AY-7191), leaving its rider, Dupesh Vernekar of Margao, with grievous injuries.
Police said the car then struck a Royal Enfield Continental GT motorcycle (GA-08-AY-0033), injuring its rider, Prince De Souza (26), a resident of Aquem, Margao. The accused allegedly lost control of the vehicle after the collisions, veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into an electric pole.
Both injured riders were shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, where they were admitted for treatment.
Following an investigation into Motor Vehicle Accident Case No. 57/2026, Bicholim Police arrested the accused on July 16 at 8.54 am. He was later released on bail.
