PONDA: Ponda Police have registered a case against a former staff member of Village Panchayat Curti-Khandepar for allegedly issuing fake receipts, forging signatures and misappropriating public money.
The complaint was filed by Sachin Naik, Secretary of Village Panchayat Curti-Khandepar, Ponda, and resident of Betki-Borim.
According to police, the accused, identified as Yogesh Gaude, allegedly issued 10 fake receipts of varying amounts totalling ₹61,275 prior to April 23, 2026.
Police said the accused allegedly forged the signature of the competent authority and used the official seal of the Village Panchayat Curti-Khandepar to issue the receipts to members of the public, making them believe the documents were genuine.
The complaint further states that the collected amount was allegedly misappropriated for personal use, thereby cheating the Village Panchayat.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Prajyot Bhakale of Goa Police at Ponda Police Station.
