MARGAO: Fatorda Police have arrested the fifth accused in the recent gang assault case registered at Fatorda Police Station. The accused, identified as Akshay Talwar (22), a resident of Talsanzor, Borda, Salcete, was apprehended on charges registered under Sections 191(2), 115(2), 118(1) read with Section 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act.
According to police, Akshay Talwar had been absconding since the registration of the case and was arrested at Fatorda Police Station during the course of the investigation.
Investigators revealed that Akshay Talwar, along with co-accused Prakash Velma and Sunil Bilwar, had previously been arrested in the high-profile Mungul attempt-to-murder case. The trio is currently out on bail in that matter.
In view of their alleged involvement in the latest assault case, Fatorda Police have initiated legal proceedings seeking cancellation of their bail in the Mungul attempt-to-murder case. An application has been moved before the District and Sessions Court, Margao, requesting the court to revoke the bail granted to the three accused.
Police said further investigation into the assault case is in progress and efforts are underway to complete all legal formalities related to the matter.
