PONDA: An FIR has been registered in a case involving allegations of sexual exploitation under the pretext of marriage, with police initiating investigation into claims spanning several years and multiple locations.
As per the complaint filed by a woman resident of Ponda (name withheld), the accused allegedly developed a relationship with her between June 2020 and March 2026 on the promise of marriage. It is further alleged that during this period, he established physical relations with her on several occasions.
The complainant has also alleged that the accused later failed to honour his promise of marriage and subjected her to verbal abuse and threats when confronted.
Based on the complaint, Mardol Police have registered FIR Cr. No. 22/2026 under Sections 69, 351(3) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The investigation has been handed over to LPSI Vibhavari Gaonkar of Collem Police Station, who is examining statements and collecting evidence as part of the ongoing probe. Police said further investigation is in progress.
