PANAJI: Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane said that a detailed review meeting of the Forest Department was held with a focused agenda on enhancing conservation measures, improving field-level preparedness, and addressing the increasing incidents of human–wildlife conflict across Goa.
Stating that the department’s priority remains the protection of both human life and wildlife, Rane said emphasis is being laid on strengthening monitoring systems, ensuring quicker response mechanisms, and adopting scientific interventions to manage emerging challenges in forested areas.
He added that coordination at the ground level is being reinforced so that situations involving wildlife movement near human settlements can be handled more effectively and safely. According to him, the aim is to minimise conflict while ensuring that biodiversity is not compromised.
Rane further noted that the Forest Department continues to work towards conserving Goa’s ecological wealth while also ensuring that development activities progress in a sustainable and responsible manner. He said the long-term goal is to maintain a balanced ecosystem where conservation and growth move forward together.
The minister reiterated that efforts are ongoing to strengthen field capacity and improve operational efficiency so that both communities and wildlife are better protected in the future.
