PANAJI: Former Indian Football Player Alvito D’Cunha today joined the Congress Party.
“Congress was always in my heart since the childhood and today I have officially joined the party,” said Alvito speaking to media soon after his induction
He further said that he was approached by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC) but he choose to join the Congress in Goa.
“I can tell you all that there is no opportunity for football in Goa. My dream is to take Goan football to an international level and I will strive to achive my dream through Congress,” he said
He said that no politician has done anything in Goa for the betterment of football.
Meanwhile, Elvis Gomes said tha Alvito’s joining will be a boost to Congress.
“I want more sportspersons to join an all-inclusive party like Congress,” said Gomes
