CUNCOLIM: Four-way fight expected in Cuncolim constituency between AAP, BJP, Congress and an independent candidate.
The present political status of the Cuncolim constituency as this time the constituency will experience strong fight quest between four candidates in upcoming assembly elections.
Independent candidate Santosh Faldesai will be the dark horse to watch in the upcoming assembly elections in the Cuncolim constituency.
This time in upcoming assembly elections of Cuncolim constituency, there will be no straight fight, but there will be a tough fight among the four candidates in this the first name comes of the present MLA Clafacio Dias, who won on the Congress ticket and later he along with other nine MLA of Congress party joined BJP.
People from Cuncolim claim that Dias is close connected with Deputy CM Babu Kavlekar, and mostly he will get a BJP ticket in the Cuncolim constituency, but according to the source, he will have a tough time getting a ticket.
The other three candidates and other names on top of the list is Yuri Alemao, a son of Ex-MLA of Cuncolim constituency Joaquim Alemao; according to the source, he is going strong, and he will get mostly support of Christian community. Still, there was discussion on him and initially criticised him as an outsider, but now it seems to be normal, and he is getting support from Congress leader Elvis Gomes.
On the other hand, the third candidate who has shown his presence and movement is Aam Aadmi party candidate Prashant Naik.
Naik expects that he has a good chance in Cuncolim as the people have seen his interaction with the media and locals.
AAP had had a base in the Cuncolim constituency for more than five years now before Elvis Gomes left the party; he has done a lot of work for the Aam Aadmi Party in Cuncolim.
And last but not least, Santosh Faldesai may be the giant killer for the upcoming election since he is a social worker who started his campaigning last year, and as per source and the local people, he is in the top four and very much having chances to creating upset for in upcoming assembly elections in Cuncolim constituency who will contest as an independent candidate.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Indian National Congress candidate Cosme Francisco Caetano Sardinha won from South Goa Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with a margin of 9755 votes by defeating Adv. Narendra Sawaikar from Bharatiya Janata Party.
